WELCOME TO THE NEW DEMOCRACY AND THE RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION—MORE FROM YUBA COUNTY CALIFORNIA March 8, 2011

Recology (Norcal Waste) is at it again: bypassing the local folks by going to the Assembly to restrict our ability to act.

First, they did it to Wheatland in the form of the Chandler Bill (taking away Wheatland’s veto power to restrict landfill expansion)

Now, they want to restrict Yuba County’s ability to restrict incoming trash from San Francisco (Bill 1178)

The bill would prohibit a city, county, or local agency from otherwise restricting or limiting in any way the importation of solid waste into that city or county based on place of origin because ensuring adequate and appropriate capacity for disposal of solid waste is a matter of state and regional concern.
