A new website has sprung up in San Francisco calling attention to Recology’s 80 year old monopoly on garbage collection in that city. The purpose is to get City Hall to (a) repeal the City’s existing Refuse Collection and Disposal Ordinance of 1932, such that future refuse collection and transportation services would be required to be awarded by the City under the City’s normal competitive process, and (b) require that refuse collection rates for both residential and commercial services be subject to Board of Supervisors approval.

To go to the new site, click here, or go to the links section on the right hand side of this page and click on COMPETITIVE BIDDING SF.
