There is a Nationwide effort to Stop the Jungo Road Land Fill in Winnemucca, Nevada
The Black Rock desert is not a waste land and should not be used as a dump. Our deserts are national treasures full of life, Native American artifacts and history, as well as the trails left by those choosing to make the West their home.

Lets just say NO!

What is the Story of Stuff?
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

  2. I think the air quality report and the wind direction argument is going to be key. I would push very hard in that area. The cyanide dump does not have garbage and dust blowing over the town of Winnemucca. The landfill certainly will. Just ask any local which way the wind blows 😉

  3. OMG! read the link and see the type of fools we are up against -Nasty Money Mongers- People I am here to tell you this is about MONEY! Just get it on the ballot and we will see who wants it or not! –Please read and help ME!- http://silverpinyon.com/government-a-politics/humboldt-county-government-a-politics/183-landfill-survey-draws-fire

  4. What was the Jungo Land Use Survey and how did it work?

  5. Have you thought of trying to work with the Burning Man folks on this? Or elevating the issue in San Francisco – the source of the junk? I haven’t had time to read all the info here – but is any municipal or governmental entity in CA involved in ok’ing any aspect of the garbage export?

    • Nevadans Against Garbage has been in contact with several organizations. Burners Without Borders (the Burning Man folks) is just one of these organizations. Most all of these groups support us in our cause, and we hope to have more input from these groups at some point in time. But at the end of the day, we, the citizens of Humboldt County, are ultimately responsible for what happens to us. We cannot afford to sit back and wait for someone else to do the heavy lifting. We encourage everyone to get involved. Donate money if you can. More importantly, donate your time and volunteer to help. We don’t know of any government agency in California that regulates garbage export. It is considered interstate commerce.

  6. Great website I approve of it 100 percent Also the Nevada Democrat site that has the U tube Videos of the Commisioners Meetings Great it really gets the Truth Out for all to see….there is too much of a hidden adgenda here… I would like to get a banner or signs for my yard maybe some sitckers too. can you tell me who I need to get in contact with? Thanks Again ,

    • I understand that signs and stickers are available at Spare Time Awards and at Bikes ‘N More. Stickers are also available at some businesses around town such as Ron’s Seed. Donations are graciously accepted at those locations too.
